Silicone Hoses

Silicone is suitable for a wide range of applications and Goodflex produce a multitude of silicone hoses to meet the specific demands of the application. The most common uses for silicone hoses are in hot or cold air systems and heating or cooling systems.

Most standard sizes available from stock in 90° elbows or straight lengths. We are also able to offer shaped hoses, reducing hoses, multiple bends and/ or convolutions (subject to minimum batch quantities). Straight length hoses available in lengths up to 4 metres (longer lengths available on request). Standard bore sizes from 6mm to 203mm.

Specifications and Facts

Silicone is suitable for a wide range of applications and Goodflex produce a multitude of silicone hoses to meet the specific demands of the application. The most common uses for silicone hoses are in hot or cold air systems and heating or cooling systems.

Please contact Goodflex to discuss your hose requirements and we will be able to make construction recommendations in order to ensure your hose is specifically suited to your application.

Silicone is a resilient material and can withstand extreme environments; operating temperatures are between –60°C and 170°C. Silicone hose is suitable for the transport of air, water, anti freeze solution, corrosion inhibitor and many other fluids. Silicone will not deteriorate from oil or fuel splashing, however it must be fluorosilicone lined to make the hose suitable for carrying oil or fuel.

Reinforced Silicone:
Silicone is available reinforced by either integral polyester or aramid braided yarn fabric to give a greater burst strength and still maintain high flexibility. Integral polyester is also available in braided silicone hose, the advantage of this is it can be manufactured in longer lengths. The combination of silicone rubber and high strength fabric offers excellent long-term resistance to heat ageing, cracking and deterioration. For hoses subjected to a degree of negative pressure a high tensile steel wire helix can be inserted inside the hose to prevent the hose from collapsing under pressure.

Silicone is ideal for coolant and radiator applications and hoses can be designed to suit your exact specification.

Most standard sizes available from stock in 90° elbows or straight lengths. We are also able to offer shaped hoses, reducing hoses, multiple bends, vented hoses and/or convolution hoses

Standard Bore Sizes: 6mm to 302mm

Working Temperature: -50°C to 225°C

Depending on the pressures and temperatures the hose will be subjected to, either meta-aramid or polyester would be used to reinforce a turbo charger hose so that it is best suited to the application and therefore should offer a greater service life.

Choice of hose shape is dependant on the level of expected movement between manifolds. For applications where movement is expected convoluted hoses would be preferable and applications with only slight movement between manifolds a straight hose would be appropriate. For applications where the manifolds are offset a shaped hose would be preferential.

Superflex hoses consist of an integral silicone liner, 3 plys of polyester reinforced silicone, a 1.2mm thick galvanised steel wire helix running inside the wall of the hose and a convoluted outer.

The result is a supremely flexible hose suitable for coolant and air applications with all the advantages of silicone such as optimum performance across a temperature range of –70°c - +170°c and resistance to both positive and negative pressures. Silicone is also UV resistant and complies with SAE J20 Class A standards.

Superflex hoses can be easily fitted onto applications that may otherwise have required a shaped hose to be supplied. In this situation the Superflex hose provides a quick fix solution and eliminates tooling costs.

Standard Bore Sizes: 13mm, 16mm, 19mm, 22mm, 25mm, 28mm, 32mm, 35mm, 38mm, 41mm, 48mm, 51mm, 57mm & 60mm (larger sizes available on request*)

Please note that the uniqueness of the products flexibility begins to dissipate after 38mm.

Fluorosilicone can be incorporated into the construction of a hose to prolong the life expectancy of the hose and also offer resistance to harsh chemicals, oils and fuel. Fluorosilicone has excellent thermal stability and is ideal for fuel filler lines and turbocharger oil drain hoses.

Vented hoses can be designed so there are no joints required and you are able to use just one hose to connect 3 or more connection points.

Bore Size to suit your individual specification.

For lengths of silicone hose, longer than mandrel built hose, braided hose is a possible option as it is available in lengths of up to 20m and is still reinforced with polyester.

Standard Bore Size: Up to 32mm

In addition to silicone hoses, Goodflex also manufacture large diameter flexible connectors, suitable for applications such as connectors for a hopper base. These seamless connectors can be fitted to the application with ease and are available in pharmaceutical and food quality silicone if required.
